Placenta encapsulation is a process in which, immediately following the birth of your baby, your placenta is dehydrated and ground into a course powder, which is then placed into small capsules that look exactly just like any other vitamin or supplement we might take.

Firstly send me an email or give me a ring or fill in the contact detail on my website. From there i will send you all the necessary information to go ahead.
Will you pick up my placenta and delivery my capsules to my home or hospital?
Yes i offer a pick up and deliver service to all area's of Perth. There is an additional travel fee for area's outside the Rockingham/Mandurah area. But i will advise you of this when booking.
Do you post back the capsules after they are complete?
No i prefer to deliver the capsules to either the hospital or home to make sure you receive them.
How do i know how many capsules to take?
I include a dosage information sheet with your package and will advise you of the dosage when i deliver the capsules.
Where do i store the capsules?
Store in the fridge when using them on a daily basis then transfer to the freezer. If you do not have a fridge in hospital just keep them away from direct sunlight and in a cool cupboard.
I am booked in for a C-Section can i still have my placenta encapsulated?
Yes definitely. The capsules will actually help you recover quicker after the surgery.
What happens if the hospital want to send my placenta to pathology?
You can ask if the hospital or cut a small part of the placenta and send to pathology. Unfortunately if the whole placenta is sent to pathology you will be unable to encapsulate.
What reasons could i not encapsulate my placenta?
As above if the placenta is sent to pathology. Or if mum or baby has an infection during labour. As this can be transferred through the placenta.
Can i encapsulate if i am Strep-B positive?
Group B Strep is one of the normal inhabitant bacteria's of vaginal and anal areas. Higher levels of growth present on swabs done around 36 weeks alert caregivers to the potential for this to become a problem in labour. Some women choose to have the IV antibiotic. Either way, the placenta can be encapsulated.
I wish to do cord blood banking. Can i still encapsulate my placenta?
Yes you can do both. You just need to advise the collection agency and the hospital of your intentions to keep the placenta for encapsulation.
When shouldn't i take the placenta capsules?
It is recommended that the capsules are not taken if the mother has symptoms of an infection, fever, cold/flu and mastitis. The reason for this is because the placenta is extremely tonifying in nature and can cause a pathogen to grow stronger and go deeper into the body. Taking longer to recover.
How long can the placenta be kept in the fridge before encapsulating?
Three days is the longest the placenta should be stored in the fridge. I like to pick the placenta up asap after birth. If you are unable to encapsulate straight away i would advise freezing the placenta.
How long will i have to wait until my capsules are delivered?
Normally between 24-48 hours. I will normally deliver the capsules 24 hours after i have pick up the placenta. But some times if doing a cord keepsake it may take longer as the cord takes longer to dehydrate. But never longer than 48 hours. I like to deliver asap so mum can start taking the capsules straight away.
How many capsules will i get?
This will depend on the size of the placenta. You will normally get between 70-300 capsules.
Do the capsules smell or have a nasty taste?
No you will not smell or taste anything. Just like taking a normal medical capsule.
How do i know you are delivering the capsules from MY placenta?
This is a very common question. I only take a certain number of bookings a week. Normally i will only ever have one placenta picked up.But if i do have more than one placenta. I would start the first placenta picked up and store the other placenta in the fridge until i have completely finished the encapsulation process. And then all equipment and area's used would be totally sterilized before starting the next placenta. This is why bookings are essential.
Is there an extra fee for encapsulating twins?
No i do not charge extra to encapsulate twin placenta's. Such a wonderful experience. I do not feel the need to charge extra as mum and dad will be already paying double for everything.
I like to offer my service at a reasonable fee so it is available to everybody.
